Where will you go after tumblr’s restrictions for nudes?
I am creating a free public online-catalog (https://www.wasima.ch) for all nude content creators (photographers, models, illustrators, sex-workers) where you can tell the people where to find you and your work and place links to your alternatives (your Patreon, website, Instagram etc.) and describe your work in a searchable database for your (ex-)tumblr name, profession, location, and the tags you add
- free listing, free access - ssh servers and database in Switzerland - creators only (photographers, models, illustrators, sex-workers etc.)
to receive details (no subject or text needed, you’ll receive an automated response).

I am Daniel Bauer, Swiss nudes photographer, and this is my personal project to make it possible that the creators that are banned from showing their nude work on tumblr can also be found in future. It will also help to find Patreon-Pages that are excluded from Patreons own search facility because of adult content.

While clicking through my archives and deleting with a heavy heart so many wonderful images of great creators, I stumbled over this add that clearly shows and reminds me that the past was more advanced and free than we are now - in a time that seems to go back in time to medieval in big steps, while it should be all the contrary.
How big must the pressure be that is executed over tumblr to voluntarily commit suicide? Who is behind that? And why?
What a sad job to do. Besides of most of the 1300 photos from my own work I must now delete thousands of wonderful, creative, stunning images of the best photographers and models I found on tumblr and carefully selected during those 6 years to present them to my 40′000 followers, and to link to the blogs of the creators.
I delete them in the hope that after the 17th, tumblrs dead-line, my blog will not be removed completely, so that I can maybe find a way to go on sharing wonderful images of my own and others.
Meanwhile I downloaded all my own posts and uploaded the complete archive of 1333 photos to my Patreon where you get access to it (plus to title images of many art nude series) for only 1$.

Tumblr - the last social media harbour where artists of all kind could publish without censorship - decided that as of December 17th, 2018 no more nudes (and not even “female presenting nipples”…) are allowed on that platform. It is now just another facebook or instagram and thus obsolete.
On 2012-10-24 at 18:16:00 GMT I published my first image in my tumblr blog nakedworldofmars - and since then a total of 1333 photos of my own from countless sessions with wonderful nude models.
I have now downloaded all my original posts before they will delete them (or maybe even remove my entire blog, we will see) and have put them in a gallery on my Patreon, accessible to all my patrons of all pledge levels from 1$.

(After you sign up to my Patreon I will send you an email with the access data to the gallery. I do this manually and it can take a while - but always less than 24 hours.)

Tumblr wants to take away all adult content on the platform, abandoning a large majority of it’s userbase which uses the site for this exact matter. Please sign the above petition if you would like to keep tumblr the way it is. They need to be shown that they will lose a HUGE amount of their traffic if they’re too carry this through.
but tumblr just committed suicide. As of 17th of December only contents that
are also allowed on facebook and instagram will be allowed on tumblr. Not only porn or explicit nudes will be deleted and blocked, but even nipples will be forbidden. So why
use tumblr when Instagram is far more popular and there is no other
advantage over other anti-social media anymore?
Tumblr for sure knows that this is the beginning of
it’s end and I am sure that there must be massive pressure from
somewhere that lead them to take this suicidal decision.
Maybe in 20 years we will know what really was behind this absolutely unintelligible step into the darkness of the past of internet, leaving countless models, photographers and other artists without a place to promote their work.

Should Patreon also get impossible one day, my Patreon-followers will know where to continue to see my work even then…
I am very sad that tumblr took this disastrous decision, having been one of the last harbors of liberty for artists in a hypocrite, anti-sensual world.
There is a lot of porn here, that’s true. And a lot (I include my own work) that is on the limit between porn and art depending on the point of view. But there are thousands of artists, designers, models, photographers, illustrators… … … that shared work of highest artistic standards and were able to show their outstanding work to a large audience. There is so much love that went into billions of posts that with the suicide of tumblr is now disprized, once again.
